Easton Glacier is on the south face of Mt Baker. It extends from the terminus at 5600 feet to the slopes near Sherman Crater at 9000 feet. Each summer since 1990 Mauri has measured the mass balance of this massive glacier.
After a long day on the Rainbow Glacier we will wrap up shooting and research on the Sholes glacier. We while on the north side of Mt Baker the researchers will be doing mountain goat counts to help keep track of their growing numbers in the North Cascades.
After 5 days on Mt Baker we followed the researchers for one day on the beautiful and striking Mt Shuksan, where we camped just past Lake Anne. After a 6 hour long drive from Mt Shuksan the team hiked in to the southern end of the North Cascades. The Lynch and Daniel Glaciers are high on Mt Daniel. We camped past at Peggy’s Pond and trekking up onto the glaciers during the day.
